Here’s what my hands look like right now.
Saturday is Diwali, the most fun Holiday ever, apparently. The celebration goes on for four days, Wednesday through Saturday. Last night we walked to the market place and got our hands all done up.
Friday is the big celebration—we are all going over to our cousin’s house for a big family party. Alissa and I got bedazzled dresses from uncle’s shop. Mine is bright purple. I will take pictures.
Saturday everyone mostly stays is the house and celebrates with family.
It feels a bit like Christmas-time. There are lights strung-up on buildings everywhere and the markets have been crowded with gift-shoppers, lantern sellers, and general bustle. It has been getting darker sooner and slightly cooler, and driving around the city (in rickshaws) at night with lights everywhere feels like the holidays.
